    About O'Connor Primary It's all in a Name! O'Connor is located in Kalgoorlie-Boulder and was named after Charles Yelverton O'Connor, the Chief Engineer for Western Australia from 1891 until his death in 1902. C Y O'Connor designed and, for the most part, guided the construction of the Goldfields Water Supply Scheme that first brought water to Kalgoorlie in 1903, as it does today. It is primarily a mining and service city. ​ The Oasis Recreation Centre is located beside the school and is used extensively by the school for swimming lessons and sporting programs. O’Connor Education Support Centre (co-located) also opened and the first Principal was Jarna Craig (Wright). What we Offer! O'Connor Primary School features a well appointed library, undercover area and canteen. Specialist teaching programs are provided in the areas of Science, Physical Education, the Arts, Humanities and Languages (Chinese Mandarin). The school site also houses the O'Connor Education Support Centre - please visit the ESC website for more details. Both schools run a very successful integration program that provides many opportunities for inclusion across a broad range of activities. The integration program is an 'Excellence in Education' award winner. ​ The school was upgraded with a new library and a 5 classroom teaching block completed in December 2010. In 2011, the new school logo was launched - along with the new IPS status, it signifies a significant change in the school. BACK

While we celebrate achievement and wish the students hoping to qualify for the Interschool Team luck, we also encourage and celebrate having a go and participation. Parents and carers and always encouraged to come and support their children at these events. The aim of all the carnivals is to promote fitness and fun through competitive sports. The carnivals at O’Connor Primary School include: Swimming Carnival and Water Fun Day, Cross Country Carnival, Athletics Carnival, Summer and Winter Lightning Carnivals. Selected students who do well in the OPS Swimming, Cross Country and Athletics Carnivals are invited to represent the school at Interschool Carnivals. More information about each of these events is released when dates have been set for each school year. Students are encouraged to wear bucket hats and the appropriate t-shirts at these events, both of which are available from the Uniform Shop. BACK
